Our Aims and Philosophy
The Community Adult Literacy Foundation aims to foster adult literacy in the community, believing that adults who would like to improve their literacy skills should be able to access free tuition if they so desire.
The Community Adult Literacy Foundation supports fee-free 1:1 literacy tutoring made available to adults by the Read Write Now! Program, a community–based volunteer tutoring service unique to Western Australia.
Reading, writing and numeracy tutoring, designed to assist adults with basic literacy needs, is available in metropolitan Perth and in some regional centres across Western Australia.
Our Partnership with Read Write Now!
The Community Adult Literacy Foundation works in close partnership with the Read Write Now! Program and supports fee-free tuition through community-tutoring by its many volunteers.
Funds raised by the Community Adult Literacy Foundation since 2003 provide contemporary resources and equipment used by volunteers in tutoring, to administer the community-tutoring Program locally and for the benefit of all the adult learners accessing free tuition.
Through this support, many low-skilled Western Australian adults have been able to improve their reading and writing skills for everyday life, for the workplace, for their families and for their future.
The Community Adult Literacy Foundation also assists in securing cost-free tutoring venues and hosting for shared office space in Perth and regional WA, to provide RWN! volunteers with functional working spaces in their local area. This is especially required for confidential student interviews and in support of volunteer tutoring in general.
